100K Vertical Foot Challenge

12th Annual 100,000 Vertical Foot Challenge

Scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2015.

Field to be limited to 40 participants and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This is a charity event that supports Make-A-Wish of New Hampshire and challenges skiers/riders to log a total of 48 runs (maximum 50) on the Lynx Trail to achieve 100,000 vertical feet over the course of the day, non-stop.

Competitors are required to raise a minimum of $250 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire. Donated prizes from Tecnica/Blizzard, Fischer Skis, Rossignol, Bern Unlimited and Ride & Ski Card will be awarded for the top fundraisers and additional prizes will be won in a bib draw raffle. Refreshments and snacks will be provided to help keep challengers going throughout the day.

Event Rules and Regulations
This is not a race, it is a challenge. There is a 9-hour window, weather and conditions permitting, to complete the 100K, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (unless all participants still entered complete the 100K prior to 4:30 p.m..This equates to 11 minutes and 15 seconds per run. The lift can reach the summit in less than 7 minutes, which leaves almost 4.5 minutes to complete each run. This is plenty of time to ski down the mountain in a safe controlled manner, for the duration of the day, and reach the 100K mark. This is not an all day downhill type race and anyone deemed to be endangering themselves or others will be removed from the challenge at the discretion of our staff. Participants will be allowed to complete a maximum of 50 runs and will be required to stop for the day when that total is reached.

Pre-Registration & Event Day Check-In

Pre-registration fee is $75 for all participants and the field is limited to 40 participants. Click on the "Buy Now" button to register online now. If you are registering more than one participant, you will need to complete contact and date-of-birth information for each participant.

On the morning of the challenge, the check-in table will open at 6:15 a.m. All pre-registered challengers will provide their donation totals, sign a liability release (or please click here to pre-print the 100K Event Liability Release, sign, and bring with you), be provided an event bib, and checked for a helmet. If conditions permit, all participants will gather at the base of the summit quad lift prior to beginning the event at 7:30 a.m.

Helmets are required for this event. If you do not have one, Wildcat will make every effort to provide you with one, but if none are available you cannot participate.

Lift Privileges
Entering the 100K Challenge will provide you with priority lift access for the day.  This will help participants maximize their time spent trying to complete the 100,000 Vertical Foot Challenge.

Course
The course for this event will be Wildcat’s Lynx Lair to the legendary Lynx Trail.  This expert to intermediate trail combination takes a rather direct route down the mountain and covers 2,112 vertical feet.  It will be closed to the general public at all points of entry, so only challengers will be on the trail, but please “Know The Code” and remain in control at all times with the ability to stop. Snacks, food, water, will be provided to you through the day. Any personal food, clothing, or other items you might want available for the day can be kept at the event corral set up at the lift base.

Follow the Code
You are responsible for knowing and adhering to the Skier Responsibility Code. Challengers deemed to be skiing in a reckless manner will be removed from the challenge.

Volunteers
We are all set for volunteers at this time and do not need additional help staffing this event.

Fundraising
The top prizes will be awarded to the challengers who raise the most money for Make-A-Wish of New Hampshire.

  • Accepting cash or check donations: If participants have pledge sponsors that wish to donate with cash or check, please click here to print the 100K Pledge Form to help organize and collect funds.

Please note, all donations will need to have been submitted, collected, and presented on the morning of the event to be considered for top donation prize winners. Of course, additional donations received after the event day will be welcomed by Make-A-Wish of New Hampshire. Also please read the rules and regulations for every skier or rider who is participating.

Dinner and Awards
After the Challenge is over, all participants and volunteers are invited to the awards party dinner. There will be a pasta dinner, cash bar and prizes. Donated prizes from Tecnica/Blizzard, Fischer Skis, Rossignol, & Bern Unlimited will be awarded for the top fundraisers and additional prizes will be won in a bib draw raffle.
